Springfield– Raul Resto, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 17th, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Raul was born in Gurabo, Puerto Rico on June 19th, 1931, to Pilar Laureano and Jacoba Resto.Raul while living in Puerto Rico worked as a cabinet maker as well as in agriculture. In 1970 Raul came to the untied States,at the age of 39 years old. He was a faithful member of The First Christian Hispanic Church A/D since the year 1970. He also worked in Westfield foundry and National Metal Company in West Springfield where at the age of 64 he retired. Raul Laureano Resto was very well known by his community in Springfield as the " Vendedor the Piraguas", it was something he enjoyed as well as made him very proud ,to bring a little of the puerto rican tradition to his neighborhood. Raul Loved Base ball, Boxing and Playing Dominoes. He was surely a servant of God and always enjoyed to be in his presence. Raul was predeceased by, His Parents, a Daughter; Lisa Rodriguez, a Brother; Samuel Resto, 2 Sisters; Ana Rodriguez Resto and Eugenia Resto. Raul was very much loved by his family. Raul leaves to cherish his memories, his companion Nereida Rodriguez, 5 Sons; David, Rafael, Steven, Luis and Edwin Rodriguez. a Daughter; Marisela Montanez, a sister; Carmen Laureano,2 Grandchildren, 2 Great grandchildren family and friends. Visitation hours will be on Thursday, February 21st, 2019 from 6:00 pm 8:00 pm and Friday, February 22nd, 2019 9:00 am 10:00 am from Spanish Christian Church 565 Chestnut Street Springfield, MA 01107,Spanish Christian Church, followed by a burial at the Oak Grove Cemetery.
